Announcing changes to QuickBooks products and pricing
QuickBooks price changes are coming with the impending release of QuickBooks 2023 on September 20, 2022. New 2023 features include better banking connections, a new Cash Flow Hub, and increased mileage tracking. Those using the Enterprise product will have new features including inter-company transactions, inventory categorization, expiration dates, bill and PO workflow approvals, and payment link tracking.
QuickBooks Desktop 2023 Pricing
QuickBooks Desktop 2023 is being offered at full MSRP with no discounts available. Until this year, discounts were found through retailers such as Costco, Sam’s Club, and Amazon. This will not happen for the 2023 products.
- $549 for QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2023
- $549 for QuickBooks 2023 Desktop for Mac
- $799 for QuickBooks 2023 Desktop Premier Plus
- Prices for QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 23.0 for 2023 (v 23.0) remain unchanged
Why are there no discounts for the Desktop 2023 products? Intuit has not explained, but it is clear to me and other QuickBooks ProAdvisors that this is the latest step to convince Desktop users to switch to QuickBooks Online. Here is a comparison of the Desktop and Online versions for pricing and users.
If you ordered QuickBooks Desktop through Intuit starting in May 2021, or through Haynie starting in May 2022 you have the Plus version of QuickBooks Desktop which automatically renews each year and you will be upgraded to the QuickBooks 2023 version as part of your subscription.
QuickBooks Pricing

Haynie & Company offers conversion services for those switching from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online. We also recommend the online version for most new clients.
New Payroll Pricing
Intuit is also increasing QuickBooks Payroll rates.
QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll: $50 a month and $5 per employee per month
QuickBooks Online Core Payroll: $45 per month and $5 per employee per month
Additional Benefits of QuickBooks Online Core Payroll
- Cloud-based anytime, anywhere access
- Automated tax payments and form filings (Federal/State/W2)
- Auto-payroll (salary employees set it and forget it)
- Next Day Direct Deposit
- New Hire Reporting
- Desktop QB Export/QBO Integration
Desktop Payroll has always been a good product; however, we have found many issues with QBO Payroll. It has improved in the last couple of years, but we recommend third-party software that is easier to use, easier to correct mistakes, and a little less expensive. Now is a good time to convert to a different payroll platform to be ready for 2023.
To help meet your business needs, Haynie & Company offers an extensive list of accounting and QuickBooks services.
